Now that the 1956 Lyman has gone home please look at other places on this site for more boat works. Pete is currently working on building The Ellen. He also has a partial restoration on another Lyman for Bob Gormley of Carthage, NY. Check out the progress under each of those headings.

Lots of little pieces. Pete and Lauren sort it all out. After each piece is cleaned and polished by Lauren, it is properly placed and reattached to the boat.

Varnishing is complete

To all who have been watching and waiting there is finally something new to see. The final varnish coat is on and this project is nearing completion.

Now the job becomes putting the pieces back together, mixing and matching the new pieces with the old. The decking is complete and the combing is clamped to the length of the gunwales.The piece will be shaped in place.

Deck pieces stained

The deck starts to come together and the stain makes a world of difference. The grain in the mahogany deck is breautiful.

Pete is using old and new pieces on the deck and it takes a lot of time to get it right. See windshield below.

Under deck floor boards

The floorboards are in place and the brass clip holds them in place.

This is finish work that will not be seen once the deck is on.

Decking

Pete has the new decking cut out and laid in place. The new mahogany will look great when varnished. Before the deck goes on some interior finish work will be completed: under deck floor boards.

Skip Gallaway came over to see how the progress on his father in laws boat was coming. I think he was planning a weekend on the water(from his expression). Don't worry, Skip, it will be ready to go with the weather.

The painting continues

The hull gets several coats of paint and is sanded between coats. The water line is taped to seperate the bronze bottom paint from the white hull paint.Pete is very particular about the paint job. He is into perfection
